Session Description
Volunteer programs, much like employee-driven organizations, cannot conduct business without incurring some kind of risk. These risks, however, can be substantially mitigated when they are identified and deliberately managed. When volunteer programs embrace and manage risk effectively, they also realize the rewards of increased quality of service to their membership, community, or cause.
Plans must balance the need to mitigate significant risks with the need to work within available resources limits. From the process for recruiting and onboarding volunteers to their training, supervision and recognition, organizations must take into account potential risks and take proactive steps to prevent potential harm to service beneficiaries, volunteers, staff, and community partners in the most cost effective way possible.
In this facilitated webinar, we’ll share a more comprehensive than usual vision of risk management. We’ll also offer a simple process for identifying five types of risks, assessing their priority level and converting them into an action plan that reflects your organizations’ priorities and budget. We’ll also provide planning templates so that you can get started right away.
In this session you’ll learn…
- A comprehensive look at risk management beyond simply background checks
- An easy-to-use risk assessment and prioritization process
- Ways to reduce the possibility of harm to staff, volunteers, service beneficiaries and community partners
- How to translate risks into doable policies and procedures that demonstrate proof of due diligence and standard of care
- How to promote risk management within your organization
