Nuts and Bolts 2.0 — The Reluctant Supervisor: How to Coach Volunteers and Feel Good About It!

November 20, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

The Nuts and Bolts 2.0 volunteer engagement training series brings the experience of a nationally-recognized expert to you! This series is designed for volunteer coordinators, staff who engage volunteers, or those who manage national service members.

The training series will be offered in Elko, Las Vegas, Mesquite, Reno, and Winnemucca, and will be broadcast to a classroom of you and your peers to maximize learning and networking among volunteer engagers.

Register for all 5 training sessions for a total of $60 or for individual sessions at $15 each.

Session Description

Your ability to lead and influence volunteers is more important than ever. With declining volunteer rates and healthy competition for the attention of volunteers, your ability to lead is crucial. But, former supervisory styles simply aren’t working anymore.

Volunteers want to be equal partners in mission delivery, but they need to do so within the limits of your organization’s requirements. Your role is to help them succeed by doing the right things and the right time, and coaching (versus supervising) can help.

Not everyone is a “natural” at supervision, but you can learn! In this webinar, we’ll share a simple coaching methodology you can use to help volunteers meet both their needs and yours. You’ll leave with practical tactics and tools to help you enhance your leadership skills and begin to transform how you get things done.

You will learn …

  • The key differences between coaching and supervising
  • How to lead from behind and still get things done
  • How to structure a coaching session for maximum accountability
  • How to align the volunteer’s needs with the organization’s goals
  • How to maintain trust in the coaching process, even in conflict
